All Car Segments Explained

 

1. A Segment (Mini  Hatchback Cars)

 

This Segment consists of Small Cars which are less than 4 Metre in Length. Engine of these Cars are not much Powerful , but in Terms of Fuel Efficiency Hatchback Cars are More Fuel Efficient than other Segment Cars. If we Talk about Features , these Cars have Decent and Approx all Necessary Features. In Terms of Safety , they are very Less Safer duty to Cheap Build Quality but 2 Airbags are there in every Car in this Segment. Mostly Cars of this Segment lies Between the Price Range of 2-6 Lakhs. Cars engaging in A Segment are Datsun Go , Datsun Redi-go , Maruti Alto 800, Renault Kwid , Maruti S-Presso. 

2. B Segment Cars (Normal Hatchback ) 

These Segment Cars are Slighly Larger than the Mini Hatchback Cars. These Segment Cars are also under 4 Metre in Length , but they are More Wider and More Taller than the Mini Hatchback Cars, and Their Build Quality gets Better as they are more Expensive. Most Common Engines in these Cars are 1.0 L Petrol Engine and 1.2 L Petrol Engine. In Some Cars 1.0 L Turbo Petrol Engine is Also There. These Car Buyers get the Advantage of different Transmissions like CVT , AMT , DCT. In Terms of Features , These Cars are not very Premium , but Better than Mini Hatchbacks in Terms of Interior and Safety. Mostly Cars of this Segment lies between 4-10 Lakhs which include Maruti WagonR , Hyundai I20 , Tata Altoz , Maruti Baleno. 

3. C Segment Cars ( Sedan Cars ) 

(a) Sub-Compact Sedans 

Sub-Compact Sedans are under 4-Metre Sedans. The Engine Power and Drive Terrain are Similar as the B-Platform Cars. These Cars have Decent Boot Space and is more than the Hatchbacks. Also these Cars have Good Legroom and Space in the Interior. These Cars are Mostly in the Price Range of 7-10 Lakhs . These Cars include Maruti Dzire  , Hyundai Aura , Honda Amaze etc. 

(b) Small Sedans 

Small Sedans are Luxurious in terms of Features. They are Long , Wider and a New Chassis is used by the Car. They have more Legroom , More Spacious Cabin Space. These Cars have Premium Features. These Cars are Bigger than the Sub-Compact Sedans and they use More Powerfull Engines like 1.5 L Engines and 1.6 L Engines. These Segment Cars get the Diesel Engine Options. Also these Cars get Automatic Transmission like Torque Converter , DCT and CVT Transmissions. These Segment Cars mostly Ranges Between 10-15 Lakhs . These Cars include Hyundai Verna , Honda City , Maruti Ciaz , Toyota Yaris. 

4. D Segment Cars 

These Cars are Family Sedans or Mid Size Sedans. These are the Most Premium and Luxuy Sedans. These have a Large Boot Space , Large Cabin Space and have the Most Luxury Features. These Cars have More Powered Engines. These Cars mostly use 2.0 L Engine. These Cars have Price Range between 20-40 Lakhs . D-Segment Cars include Honda Civic , Hyundai Elantra , Skoda Superb , BMW 3 Series , etc. 

5. E Segment Cars 

E Segment Cars or Executive Sedan Cars. These are the Most Luxurios , Full Size Sedans . These are more Premium than D Segment Cars. These Cars Contain All the Features that An Automotive Industry can have. These Cars have Long Wheelbase and Rear Seat Passengers can get Full Comfort because of the Seats with More Recline. These Cars are More Preferable for Business Class People. Mercedes benz S-Class , Audi A8 , BMW 7 Series are some of the That are Available in this Segment. 

6. M Segment 

The M segment Cars or MPV ( Multi-purpose) Cars are Considerable for Bigger Family as these Cars are Mostly 7-Seater or Bigger. These Cars have Long Length and Good Comfort but Less Boot Space. The Bigger Body Size leads to Bigger Engines and Better Ride Quality, In Terms of Features , these Cars have All Required Features and Some of the Premium Features according to the Price Range of the Cars. Mostly MPV Car Buyers are Long - Distance Travellers. There is a Disadvantage of these Cars is Mileage , You get Low Mileage in these Cars because of Heavy Body and Powerfull Engines. Maruti Ertiga, Toyota Innova Crysta , Toyota Innova Hycross, Mahindra Marazzo and Kia Carnival fall in this Segment. 

7. J Segment (SUVs) 

SUV or Sport Utility Vehicle are All Purpose Cars . These Cars are Family Cars as well as Offroading Purpose Cars. SUVs come in both 5-Seater and 7-Seater Options. These Cars have Bigger Dimensions and Big Interior Space with Good Headroom. These Cars Have Generally Bigger Engines as Compared to the Other Cars in a Particular Price Range. These Cars make you feel Luxury while Travel because SUV Cars have Premium and all Necessary Features. Also SUV Cars ensure Good Safety and Strong Build Quality. 4WD Option is Available in SUV Cars only , You can enjoy the Offroading in these Cars. You can Feel Comfortable in these Cars as these have Good Space and Long Wheelbase. These Cars are Available in both Petrol & Diesel Engine Options. Maruti Brezza , Hyundai Creta , Tata Harrier, Mahindra XUV700, Toyota Fortuner , Mercedes Benz GLS , all these Cars falls in this Segment.
